From on MGM
Watching the show “from” on MGM is like putting together a puzzle many theories have arisen.
My theory focuses on the visions Jade has received. He has misinterpreted them as hallucinations.
I believe the hallucinations (visions) he has received are actually the (little boy in white) LBW sending a message. (And a clever little nod to the viewer to play along in a subtle game of charades.) Breaking the 4TH wall.
in the root cellar a man is crushed by a boulder seemingly dead, it turns to Jade and screams in horror. (The right to die can be revoked here.)
A union civil war soldier attacks Jade. The civil war was fought between two sides. Like chess (Kenny and his father’s one bonding commonality) representing duality. The civil war soldier also implies to the audience the concept on slavery. (You can be enslaved here.)
The LBW told Victor, “You need to learn this for yourself or you’ll never believe it.” Christopher was told the truth and the town was massacred. Because Christopher misunderstood. Christopher thought quarantining the town by killing everyone would stop the evil entity from escaping.
What he didn’t understand was what the LBW couldn’t do. He couldn’t reveal that this is a game.
So, we know Tabatha seems to always have 2 children a boy and a girl. Ethen and Julie Victor and Eloise. And a little girl who was sacrificed and a little boy.
The evil entity has some vows required to successfully complete its ritual is what i suspect. this ritual will grant his thralls immortality if completed. but it will escape its prison. The vows require the sacrificed children to be willing participants. The original incarnations of Jade and Tabatha took a modicum of compassion towards their sacrificial lambs. (That we’re born with the purpose of dying) and that compassion resulted in the boy in white having hope.
He used that hope as inspiration. He proposed a game of his choosing. By leveraging his own willing sacrifice completing the ritual.
LBW picks the players and it’s a game played in the evil entity’s prison. The night creatures that come out have been confirmed as the original residents who sacrificed their children to the entity. the opening credits suggest it was a fire sacrifice ny showing a burning skeleton drawing in crayon.
The LBW failed to specify a win condition for humanity in his game because he wanted revenge for corrupting the resident’s souls. It’s probably a best of five rounds game where humanities only win condition is destroying this ancient eldritch entity.
The light house has several broken lenses. These lenses represent the score. if feels like rhe evil entity has won 3 rounds. It feels like every time a round is lost, a lens breaks and a root grows.
The roots are just as important. They are the roots of a world tree. Which represents a bridge between realities.
If humanity loses, a Yggdrasil or world tree will branch realities. Allowing “it” out of its prison. Unleashing Armageddon. (Book of revelations clue).
Jades first vision combined with Martins alleged “plea for death” and Randall saying, “I’m scared Boyd. I just want out. I don’t think death is the worst thing that can happen to you here.”
Brings me to my point.
You can be so fully enslaved (civil war soldier) your right to die is taken away (man crushed in root cellar). So if “it” escapes “it” will undoubtably enslave humanity. Doing it so fully, that you won’t even be able to escape it by dying.
Which brings me to Martin.
He is the big bad disguised as a helpless victim to lull Boyd into a false sense of security. So Boyd would put his guard down and let Martin infect him with more than the worms. If Boyd were to get out, the evil entity wouldn’t need to bother with the game anymore. Boyd infected as he is, would release “it,” if he escapes. suggested by Christopher’s misunderstanding of massacring the town as a measure of quarantine.
The LBW smiling and playing amongst the ruin of Christopher’s massacre was because he was happy Victor saved humanity. (Victor’s name is a clue hidden in plain sight. He was victorious in forcing a stalemate long enough to get another try. a second chance to play the last round. (Jade and Tabatha, his parent’s souls have returned and so have Julie his soul’s sister and Ethan his soul’s brother)
Which brings me to addressing the cast having one sole motivating factor for the first three season. (Escaping), which would be equivalent to forfeiting this round of the game. Which if this is the last round that would make the evil entity the winner.
The LBW changed the bottle tree’s destination on Dale cause he couldn’t afforded to let the towns people forfeit.
So they must win.
They can’t get wiped out (killed). Boyd can’t be the sole survivor (he’s not part of humanities team anymore). Boyd infected as he is. Is no longer in danger of having the night creatures kill him. The barn incident and the ambulance incident suggest the creatures want to manipulate him into wanting to leave. So, the evil entity won’t have to bother with this game anymore.
They can’t flee either because abandoning the field of play. ie. It’s prison that would be forfeiting.
They must confront the evil entity.
Another clue I would like to discuss is Boyd saying that the monsters used to scream all night long before the talismans were found. I think this hints at their enslavement, before the talismans existed these night creature’s former personalities would peek out past the thrall of their puppet master. The clue of Christopher and his puppet suggest this to be the case.
I think that the 2 bottle trees are a clue pointing to there being two light houses. And they found the LBW’s light house.
Meaning the opposite side of the game board, is where they need to look for the evil entity’s light house. because that’s how chess is played.
They need to locate the evil entities light house and manually break the lenses. To win. Victor will be the one to do it. And that will end the game.
